Each month from May to October FOMAD conducts a series of short walks under the theme "Heritage Secrets of the Bush". They are generally led by local archaeologist and State Heritage Advisor, David Bannear.

In 1993 David completed an in-depth analysis and mapping of all of the significant mining sites in the Castlemaine, Maldon and Taradale areas. Sample sections of these reports are available for download by contacting us here.

The walks are held on the fourth Sunday of the month from May to October, weather permitting.  This year, 2012, we are only anticipating three walks, in June, August and October, so please check here on this website in case there are any last minute changes. They generally last about two hours and strong shoes should be worn.
